CLASSIC BRACKET- ROUND 2
#1) Joe Louis vs #4) Ezzard Charles: Charles held a slight lead after 7 rounds boxing well against Louis, who got off to a slow start. Louis rocked Charles in the 8th and nearly stopped him. Louis stalked patiently in the 9th and 10th, working effectively to the body. Louis trapped Charles in the corner in the 11th and pounded him mercilessly. One final left sent Charles crumbling to the canvas. Charles was counted out. Louis KO 11.
#2) Rocky Marciano vs #3) Gene Tunney: Tunney swept the first six rounds out boxing Marciano. Marciano worked his way inside in rounds 7 and 8 and punished Tunney to the body. Marciano dropped Tunney in the 9th with an overhand right and nearly finished him in the 10th. By the 11th, Marciano was suffering from a nasty cut over the left eye and Tunney cleverly targeted the wound over the next three rounds. Marciano rocked Tunney with a left hook late in the 13th and pounded Tunney in the 14th and 15th. Ringside observers were evenly divided about who won the fight. The fight went to the scorecards: Tunney 144-142, Marciano 143-141, Tunney 143-142. Tunney wins by split decision!
