Tunney carried the first five rounds confusing Moore with hand speed and brilliant footwork. Moore stunned Tunney in the 6th with a crackling right hand and dominated rounds 7-8 with hard power punching on the inside. Tunney rallied over the next two rounds bloodying Moore’s nose with a hard right in the 10th. A crisp Moore left hook found the point of Tunney’s chin sending him to the canvas in round 11.
Tunney survived but was on the defensive for the next three rounds as Moore looked to press the advantage. Moore hurt Tunney again in the 13th with another hard left hook. Tunney rocked Moore in the 14th with a hard right hand and raked him for the remainder of the round with precision punching.
Tunney dominated the first two minutes of round 15. However, Moore rallied late rocking him with a hard right with 20 seconds remaining in the fight. The bell rang and the fight would go to the scorecards. In the end, Tunney was awarded a very close split decision: 144-143, 143-144, 143-142.
