#2) Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs. #10) Mickey Walker
Walker won two of the first three rounds based on aggression and volume punching. Hagler carried rounds 4 and 5, keeping Walker on the end of his hard right jab. Walker bored his way inside again in the sixth. Hagler was frustrated by Walker's roughhouse tactics and complained to the referee about his repeated low blows.
An accidental? head butt by Walker opened a cut over Hagler's right eye towards the end of the 7th round. Hagler, enraged by the sight of his own blood, savagely tore into Walker in the 8th round. Walker refused to take a backward step and both men engaged in brutal toe to toe action for the next three rounds.
By the 11th, Hagler's pinpoint combinations were taking their toll and Walker was swollen under both eyes. Walker continued to move forward in the 11th and 12th but his best shots were having no effect. Hagler was picking him apart like a skilled surgeon. Both of Walker's eyes were nearly swollen shut by the start of the 13th.
Hagler moved in for the kill, battering Walker along the ropes. Late in the round, Hagler landed a right hook which dropped Walker to the canvas. Walker rose at the count of 6 but he was defenseless and could no longer see the punches coming. Hagler landed 10 unanswered punches prompting the referee to step in and stop the fight.
