Robinson dominated this fight from the beginning picking Cuevas apart with surgical precision. Every time Cuevas tried to get inside he paid a heavy price, greeted with vicious counterpunches from Robinson. By the end of the 7th, Robinson had won every round and Cuevas was bleeding profusely over his right eye. Robinson ended the massacre in the 8th, dropping Cuevas with a tremendous right. Cuevas rose at the count of 8. However, the referee took one look at him and stopped the fight. Robinson wins by TKO.

This fight was a brutal war from the beginning. Walcott and Armstrong battled on even terms over the first 5 rounds. Walcott dropped Armstrong with a wicked right in the 6th and by the 7th, Armstrong was swollen under both eyes. Armstrong’s relentless aggression eventually took its tool. He controlled rounds 9 and 10, and floored Walcott twice in the 11th. Walcott fought back courageously in the 12th. However, Armstrong moved in for the finish in round 13, one final right sent Barbados Joe down for the count. Armstrong wins by KO.

This played out similarly to Leonard and Benitez’ actual matchup in 1979. This was a tactical battle at long range that was close early. Over the course of the fight, Leonard’s superior strength and body punching began to wear Benitez down. By the end of the 12th, Leonard had a comfortable lead on points. Duran began having success on the inside and by the end of the 12th, the fight was close on the scorecards. Duran traps Whitaker along the ropes in the 13th and lands a vicious right sending Whitaker crumblng to the canvas. Whitaker survived the round but the fight was stopped in the corner.
