#8) David Tua vs #8) Michael Spinks (box off): Spinks brilliantly out boxed Tua landing 47% of his punches compared to only 27% for Tua. Spinks wins an easy decision win (119-109, 118-110, 118-111) and moves on to face Wladimir Klitschko.
#1) Wladimir Klitschko vs #8) Michael Spinks: Shockingly, Spinks speed and movement confounded Klitschko over the first 9 rounds. It seemed like an upset was in the making. However, Spinks ran out of gas over the final three rounds. Klitschko came on, rocking Spinks in the 10th and 11th, then flooring him with a right in the 12th. Klitschko narrowly averts the upset, winning by split decision: 115-113, 114-113 (Spinks 114-113)
#4) Evander Holyfield vs #5) Vitali Klitschko: Klitschko dominated the first 6 rounds as Holyfield simply couldn’t get past his long reach. Holyfield rallied over the next 5 round demonstrating an iron chin and outworking Klitschko on the inside. The fighters exchanged heavy punches in the 12th, each looking to put his stamp on a close fight. In the end, Klitschko pulls out a close, split decision victory: 115-114, 115-113 (Holyfield 115-114).
#2) Mike Tyson vs #7) Michael Moorer: Moorer’s southpaw style gave Tyson some difficulty over the first four rounds. By the 5th, Tyson had figured Moorer out and began to connect with his power shots over the next two rounds. In the 7th, Tyson finished the fight landing a tremendous right uppercut that stretched Moorer out for a 10 count. Tyson KO 7.
#3) Lennox Lewis vs #6) Riddick Bowe: The first four rounds were fairly even. Lewis dropped Bowe in the 5th with a big right hand and this turned the tide of the fight. From there, Lewis dominated the remainder of the fight with clean, accurate punching, while Bowe remained on the defensive. Lewis wins a convincing decision: 118-109, 117-110, 117-112. Lewis W12.
