Joe Louis vs. Jack Dempsey:
Dempsey caught Louis cold, dropping him with a left hook one minute into the first round. Dempsey rocked Louis again in the 2nd but Louis was able to survive the onslaught. Louis began to find Dempsey with crisp, counterpunches in the 3rd. In the 4th, he dropped Dempsey with a wicked right hand. Louis out boxed Dempsey in rounds 5-7, raking him with the jab and halting his charges with crisp power shots.
By the end of round 7, Dempsey was badly swollen under the left eye. Dempsey came out like a man possessed in round 8, staggering Louis with a big right hand early in the round. However, Louis held his ground, regaining command by the end of the round. By the 9th, Dempsey was tiring and Louis coolly picked him apart over the next two rounds.
In the 11th, Louis landed a left hook, right cross combination that sent Dempsey crashing to the canvas. Dempsey rose at the count of 8 but he was through. Louis trapped him against the ropes and teed off mercilessly until the referee stepped in and stopped the fight. Louis wins by TKO and moves on to the finals! Louis TKO 11.

However, Ali adjusted well and dominated the next four rounds with superior hand speed and combination punching, which left Lewis confused and frustrated.
Lewis rocked Ali with a right hand in round 11. However, this was Lennox’s last hurrah and he was starting to tire. Ali dominated the 12th with fast, accurate punching. He landed a perfect right that nearly had Lewis out on his feet in the 13th. Lewis managed to survive but didn’t have much left.
Respecting Lewis’ power, Ali boxed cleverly over the final two rounds, piling up points against against an exhausted Lewis. In the end, Ali superior skills and stamina carried the day.
